Aztecs Try to Snap 7-Game Losing Streak at Utah Today
San Diego State’s basketball team will attempt to snap a seven-game losing streak when it plays Utah at 2 p.m. today in a Western Athletic Conference game at Salt Lake City.
The Aztecs, 0-5 in the WAC and 2-13 overall, are off to their worst start in nine years of WAC play. They are also in danger of having their worst season since finishing 6-21 in 1979-80, Coach Smokey Gaines’ first season with the team.
Freshman guard Tony Ross, who scored 25 points in Thursday’s 94-82 loss at Brigham Young, continues to lead SDSU with a 17.5 scoring average.
Utah (3-2, 11-5) is led by sophomore forward Mitch Smith, who has a 17.1 scoring average.
