A greater-alarm fire at a charity organization’s North Hollywood thrift shop Monday was caused by arson, according to Los Angeles Fire Department officials.

The fire, at the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Shop, 5272 Lankershim Boulevard, started around 12:02 a.m. when flames from a small storage shed behind the one-story building spread, said Jim Wells of the Fire Department.

The blaze was contained in 45 minutes and caused $50,000 in damages, Wells said.
