UC San Diego Scores Baseball Victory, 4-1
Rick Nowak and Kyle Abbott combined on a six-hitter Thursday afternoon to lead UC San Diego past Lubbock Christian, 4-1, in a nonconference college baseball game at UCSD.
Nowack pitched the first eight innings to pick up the victory before Abbott came on for his first save. UCSD (1-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. After Derek Alkonis tied the game with an RBI double, a passed ball got another run home and Jim Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to put UCSD ahead, 3-1. Lubbock Christian is 0-4.
