Orange County Prep Soccer : Saddleback Girls Get Revenge as Estancia Loses Rematch

The Saddleback High School girls’ soccer team, which had lost to first-place Estancia by 10 goals two weeks ago, upset the Eagles, 1-0, Tuesday in a Sea View League match on the Roadrunners’ field.

Teresa Fuentes scored 10 minutes into the match and goalie Gabby Bernal made 17 saves to lead Saddleback to its first victory of the season. Estancia, which defeated Saddleback, 10-0, in the first meeting, is 5-3-1 in league and 10-5-2 overall.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 5, Laguna Beach 0--Joanna Noble scored two goals to lead the Hawks (7-0, 18-0-4) at Laguna Beach. Jenny Cowper, Lindsey Rhebeck and Chris Santagata each scored, and goalkeeper Lynn Lambert had five saves for her 20th shutout of the season. The Artists are 2-3-2 and 3-12-3.

In the South Coast League:

Mission Viejo 3, Irvine 0--Tammy Van Opor scored off a Julie Foudy assist 1:30 into the game to lead the Diablos at Irvine. Kerry Kennedy and Stacey Hopper also scored for Mission Viejo (9-0, 22-0-1). Irvine is 1-9 and 4-10.

In the Sunset League:

Edison 1, Huntington Beach 0--Mitch Nadon scored the game’s only goal 15 minutes into the second half for the Chargers at Huntington Beach. Edison, which leads the Sunset League, is 8-0-2. The Oilers are 3-4-3 and 6-8-3.

In boys’ soccer:

Brea-Olinda 4, Magnolia 0--Tony Catalano scored two goals and Mike Oziminski and Chris Elliott each scored one to lead the Wildcats to the Orange League victory. Brea, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section 2-A division, is 6-0-1 and 14-4-3.

In the Garden Grove League:

Bolsa Grande 3, Garden Grove 1--Randy Reynaga scored two goals and Jose Cueva scored one for the Matadors (6-2-1, 8-8-1) at Garden Grove. Reynaga has scored 14 goals in league matches this season. The Matadores are in first place and can clinch their first league title by beating Los Amigos Thursday. Garden Grove is 2-5-2 in league.

In the Angelus League:

Servite 7, Pius X 1--Jim Berry scored three goals, and Rhett Harty had a goal and four assists for the Friars at Pius X. Servite (8-6, 11-11) clinched third place and a playoff berth.

In the Angelus League:

Mater Dei 5, St. Paul 0--John Coggins and Paul Oldham scored two goals each and Sean Sweeney one for the Monarchs (12-1-1, 18-2-1) at St. Paul.
