Point Loma Nazarene Defeats Bethel, 90-72

Steve Bruce scored 20 points and DaWayne Burton and Dave Davis added 16 points each Friday night to lead Point Loma Nazarene College to a 90-72 victory over Bethel College (Ind.) in the semifinals of the National Christian College Athletic Assn. Tournament at Chattanooga, Tenn.
Point Loma Nazarene, seeded second, will play for the championship at 5 o’clock today against fifth-seeded Eastern College (Penn.), which defeated Covenant College (Tenn.), 94-76, in the other semifinal. Point Loma Nazarene is seeking its third straight NCCAA championship.
Point Loma Nazarene (24-10) made 64% (34 of 54) of its field goals. Bethel is 24-9.
The Crusaders, who were ahead 45-38 at halftime, led except for a 61-61 tie with 10 minutes left.
Davis then made a jump shot to put Point Loma ahead, 63-61, and the Crusaders pulled away for the victory.
Clayton Williams added 13 points and Gerg Lanthier scored 10 for Point Loma Nazarene. Jerome Calderon scored a game-high 29 points for Bethel.
