Lou Vermeil, a Northern California sprint car racing pioneer and father of CBS commentator Dick Vermeil, died of cancer Thursday. He was 75.
He was voted into the Motoring Press Assn.’s Hall of Fame three months ago in recognition of his 50 years of contributions to auto racing.
