San Diego High School Baseball : Fallbrook Beats San Pasqual in Goodman-Pirate Final, 6-0

Ty Barksdale and T.J. Flynn had two hits each for Fallbrook, but it was the San Pasqual fielders who made the difference in the championship game of the Goodman-Pirate tournament Thursday at Palomar College.

Fallbrook scored an unearned run in each of the first three innings en route to a 6-0 victory in which San Pasqual committed five errors.

“Three of their six runs were scored as a result of them hitting the ball and three were scored as a result of our committing errors,” said Bill McAllister, San Pasqual coach.

However, Fallbrook (5-1) needed only one run to win the tournament as Mark Ringcamp shut out San Pasqual (4-3) on six hits, striking out five. Kelly Simpson had two of San Pasqual’s hits, one of which was a double.

GOODMAN-PIRATE TOURNAMENT

Patrick Henry 12, Torrey Pines 6--Mike Miller went 4 for 4 with three doubles and five RBIs to lead host Patrick Henry (3-2-1) to third place in the tournament. Patrick Henry’s Lance Lowery was also 4 for 4. David Schiff (1-0) was the winning pitcher.

GROSSMONT LEAGUE

Granite Hills 1, Helix 0--Kevin Gallup’s home run in the second inning decided this pitcher’s duel, won by Mike Raskin (2-1) of visiting Granite Hills (1-0, 4-2). Raskin struck out 11 batters and allowed only two hits. Losing pitcher Damon Luban threw a four-hitter, striking out six.

El Capitan 7, Monte Vista 2--Carlos Gutierrez hit a two-run home run in the first inning to spark host El Capitan (2-0, 6-2) to the victory over Monte Vista (0-2 in league play). Matt Smith added another two-run homer for El Capitan in the third. Rob Arnold (3-1) pitched a six-hitter for the victory. Monte Vista was led by Dennis Nichols, who had a double and a triple and scored a run.

NONLEAGUE

Coronado 3, Bonita Vista 2--Jon Johnson’s double in the fifth inning drove in the winning run for host Coronado (6-2). John Johann (2-1) was the winning pitcher.

Oceanside 5, Cleveland 1-- Winning pitcher David Chavez hit a two-run double to lead Oceanside (2-4) to the victory over Cleveland, visiting from Portland, Ore. Chris Prieto also had two singles and two RBIs for Oceanside.
