SDSU Stops UC Irvine on Three Hits, 4-1
San Diego State University used six pitchers to limit UC Irvine to three hits and defeat the Anteaters, 4-1, in a nonconference game Wednesday at Smith Field.
John Hemmerly (3-1) pitched the first three innings to earn the victory.
The Aztecs (18-13-1), who had six hits, scored two runs in the first inning and held on. Lance Pinnell went 3 for 5 and scored two runs. UCI fell to 15-15-1.
San Diego State’s next game will be against the Padres Friday at 7:05 p.m. at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium. Admission is free.
