Ronis, Hendricks Help USIU Beat Arizona State
John Ronis hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and Steve Hendricks added a two-run double in the fifth to carry United States International University to a 7-5 victory over Arizona State Thursday in a nonconference baseball game at Tempe, Ariz.
Roddy Wilburn pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win for USIU (18-20-1). Arizona State is 18-18.
Ronis’ home run gave USIU a 3-0 lead. Hendricks’ double in the fifth made it 6-0.
Arizona State scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to chase USIU starter Noel Bishop. Ted Dyson capped the Sun Devils’ rally with a grand slam.
