College Roundup : Fullerton Sweeps Cal Poly Pomona

Cal State Fullerton swept a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. softball doubleheader from Cal Poly Pomona Wednesday, winning both games, 1-0. The first game lasted eight innings.

Valerie Van Kirk had a sacrifice fly in each game for the Titans (11-0, 34-2), who set a school-record for consecutive victories with 26, surpassing the 1984 mark of 25 games.

Connie Clark (19-0) gave up only four hits and had five strikeouts in the first game.

The Titans loaded the bases in the eighth with one out and Van Kirk flied to center to score pinch-runner Rhonda Wheatley.

Janis Okerland (9-1) pitched into the sixth of the second game and was relieved by Clark.

Van Kirk hit a sacrifice fly in the second to score Melissa Coombs.

In nonconference baseball:

Cal State Northridge 9, Southern California College 3--Northridge scored five runs in the seventh inning to break open a 4-3 game at Northridge. Carlos Salazar had a solo home run in the fourth inning for SCC (13-22).
