CS Long Beach Women Get Recognition, at Last
After an outstanding season and a 33-3 record, the Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team finally received the recognition it deserved. Any Long Beach fan would expect that a 102-82 win over Ohio State in the West Regional final would earn the Lady 49ers a “real” spot on the front page of the sports section. Instead the article was crammed in at the bottom of the page.
Ironically, it took a loss to Tennessee in the NCAA semifinals to give Long Beach the recognition it deserves. Now that Cal State Long Beach has proved that its women’s basketball program is indeed the best in the West, maybe The Times will see what Long Beach fans have know for years. We would appreciate reading more about the team that made us proud.
