Ho-Hum, Granger Does It Again; Hurls 2nd Perfect Game in 2 Days
Michele Granger pitched another perfect game Friday, her second in two days and her third consecutive no-hitter.
Granger (10-4) struck out 18--including the final 15 batters--in a 1-0 victory over Fullerton in the first round of the Woodbridge tournament at Harvard Park in Irvine.
Granger set a Southern Section record for career no-hitters with her perfect game Thursday. She has pitched 23 career no-hitters--seven this season--and six career perfect games--three this season. (Editor’s note: In Friday’s editions, The Times, which was given incorrect information Thursday, was one short on the number of her career perfect games and on the number of her no-hitters this season.)
Amanda Chadwick reached base for Valencia (10-5) in the fifth inning on a fielder’s choice. She stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch.
