Cal State Fullerton scored five runs in the seventh inning and defeated Nevada Las Vegas, 7-3, Sunday to complete a sweep of the three-game Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. baseball series at Las Vegas.

It was the second consecutive sweep for Fullerton (8-1, 29-12), which won, 24-10, Friday and, 15-10, Saturday. The Titans, who swept Cal State Long Beach last weekend, are in first place in the PCAA with a two-game lead over UC Irvine.

Las Vegas (4-5, 21-16) had scored three unearned runs in the third inning off winning pitcher Larry Casian, who walked the first two batters. After a sacrifice, Fullerton third baseman Tony Trevino made a two-base throwing error on a ground ball hit by Brian Arnold.

Arnold then scored on David Baxter’s ground out to give the Runnin’ Rebels a 3-0 lead.

Fullerton came back in the fourth, when Trevino singled and scored on an error by second baseman Ted Williams to cut the lead to 3-1. In the sixth, Ken Garcia was hit by a pitch, then he stole second and scored on Andy Mota’s single and Fullerton trailed, 3-2.

Greg Mannion led off the seventh with a single and moved to third on two ground outs. Keith Kaub hit a ground ball that shortstop Tony Aquino misplayed for an error, and Mannion scored to tie the score, 3-3.

Garcia doubled, sending Kaub to third, and Mota’s infield single scored Kaub. Mike Ham’s single scored Garcia to give Fullerton a 5-3 lead. Mark Razook and Mark Baca also had RBI singles in the inning.

Casian, a senior left-hander, threw his third consecutive complete game as he improved to 6-1. He had five strikeouts and allowed five hits.

Fullerton will take on second-place UC Irvine in a three-game series starting Thursday at 7 p.m. at Irvine. The teams will play again Friday at 7 p.m., and the series will conclude Saturday at 1 p.m.
