McInnis Paces SDSU to Doubleheader Sweep

Designated hitter Chuck McInnis of San Diego State University drove in the winning run in the opener and scored three runs in the second game Monday night as the Aztecs (6-6, 24-18-1) swept visiting Colorado State (0-9, 11-16) in a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader.

In the first game, McInnis hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Scott Middaugh and give the Aztecs a 2-0 lead. Starter James Campbell (5-2) gave up a run in the sixth, but reliver Matt Haar came in to pitch the final 1 innings and get his fourth save as SDSU won, 2-1. Losing pitcher Craig Jensen (2-4) allowed SDSU only three hits.

McInnis had a double and a single in the second game to pace the Aztecs’ 11-hit attack in their 8-3 victory.
