Pen Bal Lady Wins Senorita in U.S. Debut
Pen Bal Lady, who had won three times in Scotland and England, made an impressive American racing debut Saturday, rallying down the stretch to win the $104,100 Senorita Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, Pen Bal Lady finished 1 lengths in front of Sweettuc, sent off as the 4-5 wagering favorite by the crowd of 23,862 and ridden by Gary Stevens.
Pen Bal Lady was timed in 1:35 2/5 for the mile on the grass and paid $11.80, $3.80 and $3.60. Sweettuc returned $2.60 and $2.60, and Davie’s Lamb, ridden by Ray Sibille, paid $3.60 to show.
