Anaheim : Police Jail Suspect in Retaliatory Shooting
Clarence Rayson III was being held in city jail Monday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot another man he believed had assaulted him earlier, police said.
The shooting occurred about 7:15 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Robin Place in the city’s Chevy Chase neighborhood where, according to Sgt. John Haradon, Rayson had been attacked by a group of people earlier in the day.
Rayson, 36, went to his home to get a gun and opened fire on some men standing in his front yard, according to Haradon. Police said Rayson told them he believed the men had been involved in the earlier attack.
Carlos Ramirez Perez, 23, of Anaheim, who was shot in the leg and upper torso, was listed in stable condition at UCI Medical Center. Haradon said investigators were trying to determine whether Perez was involved in the assault on Rayson.
