Ron Guidry took another step toward rejoining the New York Yankees, pitching four shutout innings for Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in a 9-0 win over Dunedin at Dunedin, Fla.
Guidry, 36, gave up 3 singles, struck out 3 and walked 1. The former free agent threw 41 pitches, 26 of them strikes.
He is scheduled to pitch again Sunday against Vero Beach in a Class A Florida State League game. A decision will then be made on whether to send him to Columbus of the Class AAA International League or directly to New York to join the Yankees.
