Santos Laciar of Argentina stopped Gilberto Roman of Mexico on cuts in the 11th round to win the World Boxing Council super-flyweight title at Reims, France.
Roman, defending the title for the seventh time, was cut below the left eye in the fourth round. In the 11th round, Laciar opened another cut on Roman’s right eyelid.
