Mike Ross hit a two-run home run and three Cal State Fullerton pitchers combined on a three-hitter Saturday as the Titans defeated UCLA, 4-0, in a tuneup baseball game for both teams for next week’s NCAA playoffs.

Longo Garcia and Mike Harkey (9-2) each pitched three hitless innings for the Titans (42-15) before Larry Casian gave up three singles, the first to Scott Cline with one out in the seventh. Casian recorded his first save.

Mike Ham’s two-out single drove in Andy Mota, who had walked and advanced on Tony Trevino’s bunt single, for the first run in the fourth off loser Alex Sanchez (5-6). Ross hit his 12th homer after a single by Ken Garcia in the sixth off Randy Hennis. Greg Mannion singled home the final run in the seventh.

Fullerton has received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by virtue of its Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. championship. The Bruins (37-23-1), runners-up in the Pac-10 South, are expected to get an at-large berth when the balance of the 48-team field and the three remaining regional sites are announced Monday afternoon.
