Leo Castelli withstood Gone West’s late run to score a half-length victory in the $220,600 Peter Pan Stakes Sunday at Belmont Park, and trainer LeRoy Jolley said Leo Castelli will run in the Belmont Stakes on June 6.

Leo Castelli, a Florida-bred son of Sovereign Dancer, carried 114 pounds--eight less than favored Gone West--over the 1 1/8 miles in 1:48 for his third win in seven starts this year. He was coupled in the betting with Goa and paid $5.20, $2.80 and $2.40.

Gone West, trainer Woody Stephens’ chief hope for his sixth straight Belmont Stakes victory, returned $3.20 and $2.40. Shawklit Won, 114 pounds, paid $4.
