Several members of the Texas football team, including All-Southwest Conference running back Eric Metcalf, have been declared academically ineligible, the Daily Texan student newspaper reported.

The full list of athletes has not yet been disclosed, but it reportedly includes split end Jeremy Robertson, linemen Michael Jackson, Charles Seafous and Stan Thomas, and linebacker Bobby Rhodes.

A source told the newspaper that that Susan Lipmann, an associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts, has recently taken a harder stance regarding dismissals and appeals of athletes than the college has in the past.
