Brian Tribble, who was cleared of cocaine charges in the death of University of Maryland basketball star Len Bias, said in an interview on a Washington radio station that even recreational drug use can “put you through more pain than you can ever imagine.”

In his first full interview since he was acquitted of the drug charges early last month, Tribble, 24, expressed regret over snorting cocaine with Bias and two of Bias’ roommates on June 19, 1986, the day Bias died of cocaine intoxication.

“It’s a mistake I readily admit,” Tribble said. “I’m still trying, and I’m still getting myself back together. I feel that now I’ve learned a great deal from it.”
