Joe Burns, believed to be the nation’s oldest former professional baseball player, has died at 98.
The Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly, Mass., confirmed that Burns died July 12. He played professionally for 17 years, including brief stints with Cincinnati and Detroit in 1910 and 1913.
