Sailor Dies, Three Lost in Accident
A sailor died Wednesday and three others were missing and feared drowned in Pyramid Lake after a small boat carrying seven Navy personnel from San Diego capsized and sank.
The victim’s name was withheld until relatives could be notified.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. Tuesday, when seven sailors from Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego were thrown into the water as their 16-foot boat capsized.
Two survivors, Steven Martin, 29, and Roger Looper, 35, swam to shore and reported the accident.
A third sailor, Joseph Thomas, 23, was rescued early Wednesday.
