Amember of the Burbank Airport Authority was slightly injured when his small plane crashed into a fence at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima early Thursday, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

Leland Ayers, 54, who is also a former Burbank City Council member, suffered only a minor facial cut after his single-engine Beechcraft lost power and crash-landed at about 6:30 a.m., said Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells.

Ayers, who has been flying about 30 years, was treated by paramedics at the scene and released shortly after the accident, Wells said.
