The national soccer teams of Mexico and Argentina battled to a 1-1 tie Friday night at the Coliseum before 22,253 fans in a tuneup game for the Pan American Games at Indianapolis later this month.

Argentina scored first in the 32nd minute of the first half when Oscar Dertycia beat Mexican World Cup goalie Pablo Larios after taking a pass from Humberto Gutierrez. Gutierrez had stolen the ball at midfield.

Mexico tied the score in the 12th minute of the second half on a perfectly executed free kick by Benjamin Galindo. Galindo’s right-footed shot into the upper right corner of the goal was just out of the reach of a diving Jorge Bartero, the Argentine goalie.
