Nea Post, who advanced further than any amateur at the recent Ocean Pacific Pro Surfing Championship, was one of 20 surfers named to the National Scholastic Surfing Assn. team Saturday at Huntington Beach.

“Everyone was telling me I was going to make it, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up,” said Post, who was eliminated in round one of the women’s main event at the Op meet at the Huntington Beach Pier.

“It shows you are capable of some things, but there is still a lot more work to be done,” said Post, 15, who will be a sophomore at Huntington Beach High School.
