Against Moorpark Freeway Proposal
As Americans, we have the right to own land, protect it, use it wisely and make sure that future generations will enjoy the fruits of our labor.
My rights and the rights of all the Campus Park homeowners, as well as the other homes surrounding Moorpark College, are being threatened by Caltrans because of its proposals for the 23-118 freeway connector.
College View will be closed and the extension of 118 will begin at Collins Avenue, behind Griffin Park, and begin elevation until it reaches 25 feet at Princeton Avenue, where it will have a diamond-shaped interchange with an exit ramp on Princeton, with traffic going down the streets of the subdivision. The freeway will continue from Princeton up behind the houses on Westwood to the hill, which the Caltrans representatives said would reach 60 to 65 feet in the air, then descend to 23. They also plan a 12-foot wall in our subdivision, which supposedly helps with the noise overhead and all around us. Ha! To say nothing of the view.
The alternative route south, which would begin where the 118 ends now and go south of the Arroyo Simi through the swamplands and across vacant lands, has been rejected. This route would not affect any human beings or exotic animals at Moorpark College, and cause no pollution, smell, noise or truck accidents.
