Another fertile Mediterranean fruit fly has been trapped in East Los Angeles, forcing county agriculture officials to expand aerial malathion spraying into Boyle Heights, it was announced today.

About 160 gallons of the pesticide will be dumped over the area Monday night and millions of sterile fruit flies will be released there next Friday, County Agricultural Commissioner Paul B. Engler said. Agriculture officials had not planned on aerial spraying for the area but decided to proceed with the plans once it became apparent that the infestation could not be kept under control by ground spraying alone.
