Raiders’ Robinson Fined $1,701, Ordered Into Drug Diversion Program

Raider linebacker Jerry Robinson was fined $1,701 Tuesday and ordered into a drug diversion program after he admitted he violated his probation when he was arrested July 16 and charged with allegedly carrying drugs in his car.

Robinson had been placed on probation after a 1985 conviction of reckless driving.

Municipal Court Judge Rodney Forneret, who made Tuesday’s ruling, also extended the original two-year probation by another year, until Dec. 10, 1988.

After his arrest near his home in Rancho Palos Verdes in July, Robinson, 30, was charged with two felonies for possession of cocaine and codeine. He must pay the $1,701 fine before Jan. 14 and the judge requested a progress report by March 10.

Robinson was also charged with three misdemeanors in connection with the alleged incident, and will appear in South Bay Municipal Court on those charges Sept. 22.

One of those misdemeanor charges, driving under the influence of drugs, carries a mandatory 90-day jail term because of the 1985 conviction. Robinson, who will have to submit to unannounced drug testing, could also face a 90-day jail sentence if he tests positive.
