A Los Angeles Dept. of Parks and Recreation team posted a 2-3 record in the recent World Senior Softball Tournament in Las Vegas.

The 15-member all-star team comprised players 70 and older from throughout the San Fernando Valley and Culver City.

Several Valley-area tennis players fared well at the 101st Southern California Sectional Championships at the Racquet Centre in North Hollywood.

Unseeded Steve Oliver of Calabasas reached the final of the men’s open event and Shannon Gordon of Van Nuys reached the mixed doubles final. John Tesoriero of Encino won the men’s class A and Diane Hight of Canoga Park reached the women’s class-A final. Mike Low of Granada Hills was the men’s class-B champion and Gunnar Galins, also from Granada Hills, won the men’s class C. Laurel Stewart of Panorama City won the women’s class B.

Brian Coushay, formerly of Newbury Park High and Portland State, signed with the Rams’ provisional team that will play during the NFL labor dispute. He was an All-WFC selection last season.

Kevin Dulsky, a 1984 graduate of Chaminade High, has been named special teams captain for the Harvard University football team.
