Claremont-Mudd Takes On Pitzer
After winning its conference opener last week, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College football team will play a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Pomona-Pitzer at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Both are 1-1 overall. Claremont-Mudd has an excellent rush led by back Chris Dabrow. Pomona-Pitzer counts on the passing of quarterback Ed Irick.
Dabrow was outstanding in Claremont’s 33-30 overtime victory over Occidental last week. He rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns, including the winning score.
Irick played well despite his team’s last-second, 30-27 loss to Redlands, completing 26 of 42 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns.
The Sagehens have standout receivers in Dan Daley, who has 17 catches for 290 yards, and Gregg Silver, with 16 catches for 194 yards.
In other matchups Saturday, Azusa Pacific (0-3) plays at La Verne (0-2) at 1:30 p.m. and Occidental plays host to Menlo at 7:30 p.m.
