El Camino 21, San Pasqual 14--Quarterback Eric Robinson had a rough first half, getting sacked five times as his El Camino Wildcats trailed 14-7. However, in the fourth quarter, Robinson threw a touchdown pass to tie the game and then ran one yard for the game-winning touchdown with 3:17 to play. The tying touchdown pass was an 18-yarder to Freddie Spears. All of the touchdowns for El Camino (2-2) were set up by Eagle fumbles. Linebacker Ric Aschbrenner had 26 tackles for San Pasqual (0-4). San Pasqual scored in the first half on an 18-yard run by David Emerson and a 3-yard pass from Jon Busch to Chris Nattoli.

San Marcos 36, Rancho Buena Vista 0--Rick Ebert completed 9 of 12 passes for 142 yards and Jesse Berrelleza scored on a pair of short runs to lead host San Marcos (1-1-2). Ebert scored on a two-yard run to put San Marcos ahead, 7-0, early in the second quarter. Two minutes later, Ebert passed to Travis Beasley who pitched to the trailing Scott Ashby for a 21-yard scoring play. Berrelleza scored on runs of one and two yards to put San Marcos ahead, 29-0 after three quarters. Rancho Buena Vista is 1-3.

Ramona 16, Escondido 13--Host Ramona (2-2) won its first league game in three years.

Oceanside 16, Carlsbad 0--Anthony Morrow threw two touchdown passes at Oceanside. Morrow threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Lee Straine for the first score and then hit Sean Turner with a 26-yard pass for the second. Ken Aukuso rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries. The Pirates (1-2-1) limited Carlsbad (2-2) to six yards total offense.

Mt. Carmel 27, Poway 7--Mark King rushed for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns on 27 carries to lead the host Sundevils (4-0). King scored on runs of 3 and 2 yards as Mt. Carmel scored 21 points in the second quarter. Gannon Tidwell scored the other touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Chris Beeman.

Torrey Pines 28, Orange Glen 23--Torrey Pines (1-0, 3-0-1) scored 21 straight points in the second half to rally past Orange Glen (0-1, 2-1-1). Orange Glen led 17-7 in the third quarter, but Torrey Pines quarterback John Lynch threw touchdown passes of 29 yards to Tyler Batson and 50 yards to Greg Johnson. Johnson also ran 3 yards for another touchdown to give Torrey Pines a 28-17 lead.

NONLEAGUE

Patrick Henry 21, Clairemont 7--Cercey Moore scored on a 10-yard run to put Clairemont (3-1) ahead, 7-0, but the Patriots (1-3) scored in each of the next three quarters for the upset win. Clairemont quarterback Lamont Jackson left the game in the second quarter with a possible broken jaw after he was sacked while rolling out to pass. The score was tied 7-7 at that point.

Christian 21, Mission Bay 0--David Beezer caught four passes and three went for touchdowns as Christian (1-3) won at Mission Bay (1-3). David Jeremiah hit Beezer on scoring plays of 44 yards in the first quarter and 3 and 33 yards in the fourth quarter.

Mira Mesa 31, University City 14--Klaus Owens rushed for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 carries to lead the Marauders (3-1). Owens scored on runs of one and six yards. Robbie McGraw put Mira Mesa on the scoreboard in the first quarter when he returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. University City is 1-3.

Hoover 21, Serra 8--Hoover led only 7-6 early in the fourth quarter, but Sherman Robinson scored on runs of 21 and 8 yards in the last period to break the game open. Robinson had 89 yards on 11 carries. The Cardinals (1-3) also benefited from five Serra turnovers. The Conquistadors (1-3) scored in the second quarter when Tom Cuttner threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Ralph Posten.

La Jolla 56, San Diego 0--Eight players scored for the Vikings (3-1), including all three quarterbacks. Seven of the touchdowns were on the ground. John Tribolet threw the only touchdown pass, a 22-yarder to Adam Lenain in the first quarter. Tribolet later scored on a eight-yard run in the third quarter. Forrest Sherman, who scored on a 15-yard run, was the leading rusher with 73 yards in 6 carries. La Jolla had 259 yards rushing. San Diego is 0-4.

Mar Vista 9, Bonita Vista 7--Steve Gilbert kicked a 39-yard field goal late in the third quarter to give host Mar Vista (3-1) the win. Tony Mendevil’s one-yard scoring run gave Mar Vista a 6-0 lead in the second quarter. Bonita Vista (1-3) went ahead, 7-6, at halftime on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Matt Gibbs to Ted Earhardt.

Montgomery 21, Castle Park 7--After a slow start this season, Montgomery Coach Steve Summers installed a wishbone offense this week, and it seemed to work. The Aztecs (1-3) got rushing touchdowns from Kevin Crawford, 15 and 1 yards, and Greg Sallee, 14 yards. Castle Park’s Kyoshi Moody scored on a 40-yard run for the Trojans’ only touchdown. Castle Park is 0-1-2.

Coronado 35, CETYS 0--Chris Quintana rushed for 99 yards on 13 carries and scored 2 touchdowns on 1-yard runs as host Coronado improved to 4-0. Mike Shore also scored on runs of two and one yards. Eric Turner scored on a 35-yard run for Coronado.

El Capitan 31, Santana 7--El Capitan (4-0) led 31-0 en route to defeating Santana (2-1-1) at home. Running back Andy Johns scored on two touchdown runs, one of 75 yards, and Bryan Palmer added another touchdown run for El Capitan.

Marian 24, Holtville 13--One of four Holtville fumbles was picked up by Brannan Hayes and returned 35 yards for a touchdown. Dennis Gascon had 35 yards on 4 carries.
