Bell-Jeff 30, Maranatha 6--Aaron Green scored twice in the second half and Phil Reynolds returned a punt for 52 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter to seal the victory for Bell-Jeff at Burroughs High.
Reynolds rushed for 92 yards on 16 carries, and Bob Tumas competed 7 of 17 passes for 119 yards and 1 interception.
Defensive lineman Mike Thomson tackled Maranatha’s Corey Larsuel in Maranatha’s end zone for a safety to cap the Guards’ scoring with 2:50 remaining in the game.
Defensive back Alex Vucurebic had two interceptions, his second set up an eight-play drive that resulted in a Bell-Jeff field goal with 11 seconds left in the first half. The Guards led, 6-0, at halftime.
