HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS : Mitchell’s 14 Kills Lead Record Win

The Newbury Park girls volleyball team set a school record for wins with its 10th victory of the season, defeating Camarillo, 15-4, 15-13, 15-11, in a Marmonte League match Tuesday at Newbury Park.

“It was a win we knew we were going to get,” Newbury Park Coach Joe Wortmann said. “And we’re going to get some more.”

Camille Mitchell had 14 kills and Shannon Mutch had 32 assists to lead Newbury Park (6-2, 10-2 in league). Camarillo is 1-6 in league.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Thousand Oaks d. Royal, 15-9, 16-14, 15-2--Thousand Oaks (8-0, 11-1) remained in first place in the Marmonte League with a win at Royal. The Lancers were led by Julie Chellevold, who had 12 kills. Royal (6-2, 9-3 in league) is in second place.

Notre Dame d. Bell-Jeff, 15-10, 15-11, 11-15, 15-13--Cindy Freidman and Dana Marasca each had eight kills for Notre Dame (2-3) in a San Fernando League match at Bell-Jeff (2-3).

Agoura d. Santa Paula, 15-3, 15-4, 15-13--Amy Ward had 10 kills for Agoura (4-0, 8-2) in a Frontier League match at Santa Paula.

Cleveland d. North Hollywood, 15-1, 15-4--Nancy Nichols had eight kills and Cheryl Aschenbach had eight aces to lead Cleveland (1-0, 5-1) to a Valley 3-A League win at North Hollywood.
