McMahon Can Play This Weekend
Quarterbacks Jim McMahon of the Chicago Bears and Jay Schroeder of the Washington Redskins have recovered from shoulder injuries and will be able to play in their teams’ National Football League games this weekend.
Although McMahon, who had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff last Dec. 12, is healed, Chicago Coach Mike Ditka is expected to start Mike Tomczak, who led the Bears to two wins before the players’ strike.
McMahon said he doesn’t expect to be on the bench long, though.
“I feel ready to play and if I do well in Tampa Bay, I’ll expect to start the following week.” he said.
Meanwhile, Washington Coach Joe Gibbs said Schroeder has fully recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered on opening day and will start Sunday’s home game against the New York Jets.
Schroeder sprained his right shoulder Sept. 13.
