Top draft choice Alonzo Highsmith reached an agreement in principle with the Houston Oilers, Oiler General Manager Ladd Herzeg confirmed.
“There are still some loose ends regarding the litigation,” Herzeg said, in reference to a lawsuit Highsmith filed against the Oilers. “If we can’t get them tied up this weekend, then we’ll have to go back to court in Miami on Monday.”
The Houston Chronicle reported Highsmith would earn $2.5 million over four years including a $1.2-million signing bonus.
