Prep Soccer Roundup : Oldham Leads Mater Dei’s 4-0 Victory

Paul Oldham scored three goals to lead Mater Dei to a 4-0 victory over Santa Ana Thursday in a nonleague boys’ soccer match at Mater Dei High School. Oldham, an All-Southern Section selection last season, scored twice in the first half as the Monarchs (1-0) built a 3-0 lead. Steve Sweeney scored the other goal for Mater Dei, which was 4-A co-champion last season. Santa Ana is 0-1.

In other boys’ nonleague play:

Tustin 3, Costa Mesa 0--Kevin Villar scored two goals and Matt Alexander one for the Tillers (2-0) at Costa Mesa. Derik Grove had four saves for Tustin, and Ross Simon made eight for the Mustangs (0-2).

In girls’ nonleague play:

Cypress 1, Lakewood 0--Sophomore Laura Heaney scored at the 25-minute mark of the second half at Lakewood. Goalie Shelley Aguirre made 10 saves for Cypress (1-0) in recording a shutout.

Corona del Mar 2, Foothill 0--Stacy Karges and Amy Jacobs each scored first-half goals to lead the Sea Kings in their season opener at Foothill. Alisa Olsen and Kim Kolstad combined to shut out the Knights (0-1). Olsen made four saves and Kolstad five.

La Quinta 3, Sunny Hills 0--Stacey Reynaga, Chery Jones and Robin Carnes each scored goals for the Aztecs (2-0) at La Quinta. Aztec goalie Leslie Schnider made three saves and Erika Guglar had 14 for Sunny Hills (1-1).

Dana Hills 1, Estancia 0--Molly Sullivan scored with 15 minutes left in the first half at Dana Hills. The Dolphins are 2-0 and Estancia is 1-1.

El Dorado 2, La Habra 1--The host Golden Hawks (1-0) had goals from Tammie Noggle and Trina Porter. La Habra falls to 1-1.
