College Basketball Roundup : Burton Lauke Scores 21 to Pace Pacific Christian, 89-77

Burton Lauke had 21 points to lead Pacific Christian College to an 89-77 victory over Christ College Irvine in the opening round of the Azusa Pacific tournament Thursday.

Brian Keiser added 18 points and Bill Edwards 16 for Pacific Christian (7-1). Pacific Christian will play the winner of The Master’s-San Jose Bible game, tonight at 9.

Robert Pallotta had a game-high 23 points for Christ College Irvine (2-3).

In women’s basketball:

Chapman 78, Northwest Missouri State 77--Corine Sandfry made two free throws with one second left to give the Panthers the victory in the first round of the Lady Buff tournament at West Texas State.

Kelly Lintz’s basket gave Northwest Missouri State a 77-76 lead, but Janet Clark, thinking the Bearcats were still down by one, fouled Sandfry, who hit both free throws.

Karan Polk led the Panthers (4-1) with 18 points and a school-record 14 assists. Sandfry had 15 points. Clark had 24 points for Northwest Missouri State.
