Raider rookie Bo Jackson is a good runner, but he’s still not the caliber of an Eric Dickerson, the Colt running back says.

Dickerson’s trade from the Rams to the Colts gave Jackson a bigger share of the Los Angeles spotlight, and Jackson starred Monday night by rushing for 221 yards against Seattle, including a 91-yard touchdown sprint.

Now the rookie is receiving the same praise Dickerson once earned in L.A. But Dickerson says Jackson needs to prove he can run for 100-plus yards every week.

“Bo is good, really a great back, but I don’t think he’s of my caliber; that’s my opinion,” Dickerson said.

“I’m a different type of runner. I can run around you. I can run over you. Also, I have better moves than Bo.”

Jackson’s performance Monday night may soon be forgotten, Dickerson said.

“One good game in L.A. and you’re a Superman,” he said. “But one bad game and you’re a dog.”

Dickerson has rushed for more than 100 yards in four straight games, a Colts record. If he gets 140 yards against Cleveland Sunday, he will have reached 1,000 for the fifth straight season.

A first-round draft pick in 1983, he already ranks 12th in NFL history with 7,828 rushing yards.

If Jackson wants to crack the lineup of elite NFL backs, Dickerson said, he will have to quit playing baseball for the Kansas City Royals.

“You can’t do both and be great,” Dickerson said.
