COMMUNITY COLLEGES : Basketball Roundup : Wayland Leads Cypress Women Past Moorpark

Becky Wayland scored 18 points to lead Cypress College to a 61-58 victory over Moorpark in the third-place game of the Cypress women’s basketball tournament Saturday at Cypress.

Janene Allen added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Cypress (5-4). Moorpark is 3-6.

In the championship game, Bernadette Tillis scored 22 points to lead L.A. Valley to a 72-69 victory over MiraCosta.

In men’s games:

Edwards Air Force Base 88, Cypress 73--Willie Davis scored 39 points to lead Edwards Air Force Base in the final of the Antelope Valley Tournament.

Kris Brodowski and Jeff Green each scored 19 points to lead the Chargers (8-1).

In the Grossmont tournament:

Rancho Santiago 90, Fullerton 60--Alonzo Jamison scored 23 points and Chris Martin added 18 to lead the Dons in the championship game at Grossmont. Kenny Ammann added 17 points for Rancho Santiago (8-2).

In the Miles Eaton Tournament at Orange Coast College:

Orange Coast 70, Mt. San Antonio 47--Dave Miles scored 21 points and added 18 rebounds to lead OCC (7-3) in the third-place game. In the championship game:

Long Beach City 77, Imperial Valley 76--Errick Holmes sank two free throws with four seconds remaining to give Long Beach the championship.
