“Kostoff carried us in this game. He was the best player on the floor tonight,” Capistrano Valley Coach Mark Thornton said.

Thornton said his defense kept the Bears out of range. “We got in their shooters’ faces and pushed them out too far from the basket,” he said.

Frank Aguilar of Capistrano Valley was named tournament most valuable player, and Marinovich and McCorkle were named to the all-tournament team.

In the third-place game:

Tustin 80, Huntington Beach 67--Tustin, led by 6-6 senior center Leo Parker with 26 points, and 6-2 senior guard Brad Cantrell with 20, beat the Oilers for third place.
