Bo Is Returning to Kansas City Sunday and George Brett Wants to See It

Bo Jackson’s two worlds will collide next Sunday when the Raiders play at Kansas City, and at least one member of the Royals will be in Arrowhead Stadium to see it.

“I’m heading back there for the game, too, and I think it’s gonna be interesting,” said George Brett, who has been coming to the Coliseum to watch his Royal teammate play for the Raiders recently.

After the Raiders’ 34-21 win over the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Brett visited Jackson in the dressing room and talked to reporters about the reception he expected Bo to receive in Kansas City.

“The fans there, when he said he wanted to play football, they really turned on him,” Brett said. “I don’t think it was fair.

“I think now when they see what a successful player he has been--and I hope he has a great game against the Chiefs--maybe it’ll change their opinion of him. It made life real tough on Bo Jackson. I know that for sure.”

Brett said he has no clue which sport Jackson eventually will choose.

“I think he’s a great football player and he has the potential to be a great baseball player,” Brett said. “Baseball’s gonna take a lot of time and a lot of practice and a lot of games.

“I’m sure the Royals wanted him to play winter ball this year to get some more games under his belt, and Bo said, ‘I don’t want to play baseball right now. I want to play football.’

“So he’s playing football and I think he’s shown not only you people but all the guys in Kansas City that, ‘Hey, I can do both.’ If the Royals are patient with him, I think he can be a great player in both sports.

“If I had the abilities of Bo, I’d try to do everything I could.”
