High School Soccer Highlights : Poly Settles a Score and Wins a Title to Boot

Led by goal scorers Jesus Perez, Edwin Torres and Juan Carlos Veloz, Poly (10-1, 7-1) won the East Valley League title Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Hollywood at Poly High.

The victory avenged Poly’s only loss of the season, which came against Hollywood (4-3).

BOYS SOCCER

Granada Hills 2, Birmingham 2--Senior Adolfo Perez scored two second-half goals to rally Birmingham (2-5-2) to a Mid-Valley League tie at Birmingham. Perez, who has eight goals this season, scored the tying goal with 10 minutes remaining. Junior Ramirez and Paul Reineke scored for Granada Hills (2-7-4, 1-5-3).

Taft 1, Cleveland 1--Taft players Meir Cohen and Marvin Davla both missed penalty kicks in the second half as the West Valley League match ended in a tie. Keyvan Eghbali scored Taft’s only goal in the first half. Taft is 7-3-2, 3-3-2 in league play. Mark Ringsmuth scored on a corner kick for Cleveland (7-3-2, 4-3-1) midway through the first half.

Monroe 5, Van Nuys 1--Greg Hartsock scored four goals to increase his season total to 17 as Monroe (8-2-2, 6-1-2) won a Mid-Valley League match at home.
