PREP BASKETBALL : Girls’ Roundup : Marina Improves to 7-1 With Victory

Dee Dee Stigar scored 15 points and had 7 assists to help Marina High School defeat Esperanza, 54-29, Tuesday in a girls’ basketball game in the Savanna tournament.
Center Dawn Charroin had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Liberty Brewster had 11 points for Marina (7-1), which led from the start. Karin Davidson led Esperanza (4-4) with 12 points.
In other Savanna tournament games:
El Toro 58, La Quinta 53--Elaine Youngs led the Chargers with 26 points and Sara Bone had 13. Laura Anderson led Quinta with 13.
Loara 56, Irvine 54--Heidi Souror paced Loara (5-2) with 15 points in a second-round game, and Kim Yoshioka had 12.
Mater Dei 57, Woodbridge 54--Kelly O’Brien scored 20 points, Cori Martin scored 10 points and Jennifer Swander had 10 rebounds for Mater Dei. Randee Mahoney led Woodbridge with 18 points.
In nonleague games:
Fullerton 65, Los Amigos 33--Center Sabrina Welch scored 19 points and had 19 rebounds and Blanca Hernandez scored 28 points to lead Fullerton (3-4) at Fullerton High School.
University 43, Laguna Hills 32--Center Shelley Davis led University (2-3) with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Christy Grebel had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Laguna Hills (1-3).
La Mirada 41, Sunny Hills 31--Leslee Rogers led La Mirada (3-2) with 16 points. Jennifer Moulton led Sunny Hills with 14 points.
Magnolia 43, Laguna Beach 25--Forward Dawne Borum led Magnolia (5-2) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rena Rossoll added 14 points and 7 rebounds.
Foothill 45, Huntington Beach 34--Ashley Selman led Foothill (3-3) with 15 points, 5 assists and 7 steals. Tami Chick scored 16 points for Huntington Beach (2-4)
Bolsa Grande 30, Sonora 13--Jennifer Tracy scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds and Liz Flores added 11 points for the Matadors (3-2).
In the Express League:
Pioneer Baptist 46, Claremont 19--Kim Baker led Pioneer Baptist with 15 points; Mindy Moore led Claremont (0-3) with nine points.
