Armchair quarterbacks will be warmed by the glow of four pro football games coming from their small screens this weekend.

Today’s gridiron schedule finds the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants playing before the CBS cameras at 9:30 a.m. (2)(8). At 1 p.m. comes an NBC game in which the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos on (4)(36)(39).

On Sunday, the local CBS and NBC affiliates have changed their football telecast plans. At 10 a.m., KCBS (2) will air the Minnesota Vikings-Detroit Lions game, instead of the San Francisco 49ers-Atlanta Falcons contest at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, KNBC (4) has dropped the Seattle Seahawks-Chicago Bears game at 10 a.m. in favor of the Indianapolis Colts vs. San Diego Chargers at 1 p.m.

As a result of the CBS switch, the network’s “Year in Review” will be shown Sunday at 1:30 p.m., followed by a program featuring the Kodak All-American football team at 3 p.m. (2).

In college football, the postseason action rolls along as Tulane and Washington square off in the Independence Bowl at Shreveport, La. The game can be seen today at 5 p.m. (11)(51).

For those who prefer college basketball, there’s a broadcast of North Carolina vs. Illinois today at 12:45 p.m. (2)(8), with Kansas vs. North Carolina State due at 1 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42).

More basketball is on tap as the Los Angeles Clippers host the L.A. Lakers in the Sports Arena tonight at 7:30 on Channel 9.
