Why Was This Story Put in Sports Section?

I found it rather ironic that Pete Thomas’ article on the anti-hunting activists involved with the bighorn sheep hunt was placed on the front page of the Sports section of the Dec. 15 Times. Although the article dealt with the issue fairly, I feel by incorporating it in the sports section, The Times has made an editorial statement: That the killing of animals is indeed a sport , just like basketball, football, etc.

Perhaps the editorial staff could use better judgment in the future when reporting on such news worthy subjects.
