Five Alemany starters were sidelined because of injuries Tuesday, but the Indians didn’t miss a beat against South Pasadena. Sophomore Rachel Gagliano scored three goals to lead Alemany to a 3-1 victory at South Pasadena in a girls nonleague soccer match.
“Our bench is good,” Alemany Coach Marcia Takahashi said. “We don’t have any weak players that we have to hide. Our subs came in and played well.”
Senior goalie Lisa Gonzalez, who was out of the game by the time South Pasadena scored its goal, has allowed only seven goals in 13 games. Alemany completed its nonleague schedule with a 11-3-2 record.
GIRLS
Simi Valley 3, Thousand Oaks 2--The Pioneers (12-2-1) scored two goals at the start of the second half to win the Marmonte League opener for both teams.
BOYS
San Gabriel 3, Burroughs 1--The Matadors improved to 3-0 in the Foothill League with a victory over the visiting Indians.
