Athletes in Action Beat Toros, 80-62
Athletes in Action had too much height for host Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday night and defeated the Toros, 80-62, in an exhibition basketball game.
AIA, which started a front line that averaged 6-9, taller than any Toro player, jumped to a 13-2 lead in the first six minutes.
Dominguez Hills cut the lead to five, 53-48, with 9:38 remaining in the game on a rebound and basket by freshman forward Dezi Hazely. But in the next two minutes, AIA outscored the Toros, 9-1.
Unable move the ball inside, the Toros went to a perimeter game, but was 1 of 10 from three-point range in the first half and 3 of 16 for the game.
