Prep Soccer Roundup : Vallejo Leads La Habra to 5-1 Win

David Vallejo scored three goals to lead La Habra High School to a 5-1 victory over Sonora Tuesday in the Freeway League boys' soccer opener for both teams at La Habra.

Vallejo has 12 goals this season. Dylan Brennan scored the other two goals for La Habra (6-2-3, 1-0). Hector Vasquez scored for Sonora.

In the Angelus League:

Servite 5, Pius X 0--Marc Menik and Rhett Harty scored two goals each to lead Servite (11-4, 2-0) at Pius X.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Woodbridge 3, Costa Mesa 1--Rudy Carrion, Matt West and Adrian Wolf scored for host Woodbridge.

In Empire League girls' matches:

Los Alamitos 7, Katella 0--Jaycee Leitner scored four goals to lead the host Griffins (15-2-1).

El Dorado 2, Loara 1--Trina Jackson and Tamrya Noggle scored for El Dorado (7-3-3, 1-0-1). Goalie Gina Susaeta had 24 saves for El Dorado.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 2, Kennedy 1--Freshman Cheryl Jones scored the game-winner with 10 minutes left for host La Quinta (8-3-1, 1-0).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Woodbridge 1, Trabuco Hills 0--Jaymee Stone scored for host Woodbridge. Goalie Melissa Gover had five saves for Woodbridge (5-6, 1-0).

Laguna Hills 2, Orange 0--Monica Shrout and Jenny Cowper scored for Laguna Hills (9-5-1, 1-0) at Orange (5-1-2, 0-1).

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 3, Newport Harbor 0--Stacy Petersen, Tracy Schriver and Jill Welputt scored for host Corona del Mar (7-5-1, 1-0).

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 3, Irvine 1--Ann Viceroy scored twice to lead the Dolphins (9-2-3) at Irvine.

Capistrano Valley 2, El Toro 2--Sarah Toomey and Ginger Frank scored for Capistrano Valley. Shawna Burke and Jennifer Dix had a goal each for host El Toro.

In the Sunset League:

Edison 5, Westminster 0--Allison Gibbs scored two goals to lead host Edison (9-3-3, 1-0-1). Kendra Whisenand, Joelle Isaacs and Lanai Ortega also scored.

Fountain Valley 2, Huntington Beach 0--Kristi Beauchamp scored two goals. Goalie Kelly Gillis had five saves for Fountain Valley (7-3-3, 1-0-1). Stephanie Pemper had eight saves for Huntington Beach (2-3-2, 1-1).

Ocean View 0, Marina 0--Goalie Caynne Kramer had four saves for Ocean View and Christian Rossman five for Marina (3-5-3, 0-0-2).
